sudo/su watch dev/tty1 runs but broadcasts permission denied

so because my tty terminals keep on showing blue lines in a nvidia-related problem, ive decided to just use the watch command, since i usually have openbox on when im monitoring my server anyways

problem is once you sudo unlock the interface and start broadcasting tty1 on a desktop terminal, it only broadcasts permission denied

Every 2.0s: /dev/tty1 Fri May 25 17:24:40 2012

sh: 1: /dev/tty1: Permission denied

so, how do you unlock this second permission, i already tried superuser and sudo

Not sure which distro you are using but you might want to check /etc/securetty. If tty1 is not in that list it may not allow it to be pushed that window.
