Sudo for kill dangerous?
Hey what's up all?
I have recently purchased a new ipod, 20 gb (18.5 actually...), 3rd generation.
It's working great under linux using gtkpod, but I have to restart devfsd to get the ipod to accept its usb address. I can do that by restarting my computer while having the ipod plugged in, but it works just as fine when using the command "kill -HUP [devfsd pid NO.]". Since I would like all this to happen when I plug the ipod in, I'm trying to write a little script that restarts devfsd, then mounts the ipod and starts gtkpod. I want to be able to run the script as a regular user, and I have already made a sudo entry for mount and umount in the /etc/sudoers file. My question is: if I will add a sudo entry for kill (so that I can restart devfsd as a user), will my system be "in danger"? Does anybody have a better solution for restarting devfsd? Thanks alot in advance.
btw... does anybody know of an application for using smart playlists in linux?
