my rh9.0 has been up for quite a while, with no problems.
i've upgraded to the latest nvidia release last week, and the box has been shutdown and restarted with no problems. been running fine since.
today i came home to the sound of my ups beeping.
so when i restart the box now, all i get is the nvidia splash screen flashing.
sequence: login promp, splash screen, ,login promp, splash screen, etc... this is gonna kill my monitor.
so... isn't there a key combo to bypass the X startup , ,and go directly to text mode ( init 3) ?
i was thinkin mabe reinstall drivers, check the logs......
If X cannot write its named pipe in /tmp/.X11-unix and xfs cannot write its named pipe in /tmp/.font-unix because there is no room, then X will not start, hence it crashes, but your entry in /etc/inittab says to start it again, hence it starts up but crashes, then ...
If you /tmp is not full, then check to see if xfs is running okay because unless X can find at least font "fixed" it will refuse to start.
