What happens to stdout when a command is run as a background process.

eg. `command &`

Can it be redirected to a file?

Cheers,

ta,

I thought that was it!

so running as a background process has no effect on stdout, stdin etc. It is still inherited from the parent process?

no effect. the stdout and stderr are still the same. you'd need to use a pipe or a > to redirect it.
