Startx, monitor goes blank, HELP!

I have configured my monitor properly inside X86Config, (ADI Microscan 3E with the right refresh rates). My video card is also properly configured (ATI Radeon 7200 32mb), yet whenever I try to run startx the monitor's screen goes blank. The monitor works in text mode, but as soon as it tries to go into a GUI it goes blank. Ive been having this problem for months now, please help me!

I am using the downloaded Red Hat 9, and whenever i try to run redhat-config-xfree86, it says dccprobe return bogus variables and then the screen goes blank.

Try downloading the official ATI drivers from www.ati.com

Also make sure the window manager that you want to use is set up correctly as if its not it will go blank and die. Such as adding all the right stuff in your .xinitrc file.
