startup SCIM fine but ctrl-space does nothing

Code:
export LC_CTYPE="en_HK" [I'm using Debian] |
Which flavour Debian are you using. I am having the same problem with Debian Etch...

I have been looking into this during the morning and have a temporary solution that will get us by for now.
If you open gedit (I am using gnome) and right click in the text window you should be given the option for different input methods. Choose scim and I can write Chinese. I then copy and paste into openoffice (in this case). A little more configuration should get me telling open office which input method to use. It's a little odd, in Debian stable scim worked 'fresh from the repository' |
