Standard FTP client.

Is there a way to buffer screen output from ftp so I can scroll back directory listings?

A not-particularly-intuitive way is to use the 'screen' program (you may need to install it). It allows you to scroll back using ctrl-a, esc (then the arrow keys). The only problem is, you need to remember to run screen before you run ftp.

For a better ftp client, you could try ncftp (tab completion makes ftp so much nicer).

Thanks for the tip. I will probably end up using a different ftp client.
