I am trying to implement SSI on Apache 2.0.47 and can not get it to work !!!!! I am sure it is a silly bug but after hours of trying to find the issue I cant get it to work.

After viewing the source for the page that is delivered I see the SSI directive. I dont think it is processing the directive becase I would expect to see my include or an error.

I thought it might be a permission issue so chened everything to the apache user and group and still it doesnt work.

any ideas ?????

Add "Includes" to your Options directive for a directory below or at the level you are placing the file. To enable it for the whole site just put it in:

You should define your folder in options like this

<Directory /home/httpd/html>
Options Includes
</Directory>

where /home/httpd/html should be the folder where the .shtml files reside, I think.

then, activate the Includes option in the options section

after that you should add the .shtml file type and define a filter to the .shtml files (files that will be interpreted, time consuming)

AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml

in this case only the files ending with .shtml will work, files ending with .html don't, to make this files work to you should add the to the AddOutpuFilter like this

AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml .html

don't forget to check the mod_include.so and leave no comment the next line
