ssh tunnel and vnc question

Not sure where to post this so putting this in general
WORK:
I have winxp system running ssh and tightvnc.
I connect to a Red Hat system using ssh tunneled then i start tight vnc.. i get connected fine. Life is good.

HOME
I have a system at home...
I can ssh to the machine and login.
enter in vncserver and it starts (similar to work)
I then try to run the tightvnc client sw but it will not connect. I tried the mydomain.com:1
tried ipaddr:1
localhost:1
servername:1

Still it does not connect.

So my questions is this. i should only need post 22 open on my router to get to the ssh session then tunnel over that port 5901 back to my lap top.

So why is the RH box not answering if the ssh session is established just fine.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
SOLVED THIS

I had to kill the vncserver. I guess I had an old one out there and did not realize it.
localhost:1 worked....

The cool thing I am doing this over a VB system until I can get my Ubuntu tightvnc client issue worked out....

Still have this question....

On another note does anyone know what ssh session switch i have to enable to get the arrows to work and the del key wont work. I have the ctrl H button selected but i get escape characters.

Thanx

Keys

I don't think this is about ssh session-switches. Most likely it's a setting in your terminal.
As you mentioned, you have a WinXP-System. If you're using putty, you can edit the key translation, on most other Windows-Terminals there are similar options.
