SSH FATAL ERROR while connecting to SQUID

It was working fine before two days and now we are getting "Network Error:Software caused connection abort" while connecting through ssh to SQUID (Redhat Enterprise Linux4. SSH logging shows the below,

=~=~=~=~=~= PuTTY log 2006.08.09 09:30:51 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=
Event Log: Writing new session log (SSH packets mode) to file: putty.log
Event Log: Looking up host "10.236.185.95"
Event Log: Connecting to 10.236.185.95 port 22
Event Log: Network error: Software caused connection abort

Any help would be appreciated. I have checked all, ssh service running. telnet to port 22 works. Please help....:-)

Regards
Sureshn

could be some problems with the files hosts.allow and hosts.deny. basically both is empty by default. but if there's a All: All in hosts.deny and you haven't allowed sshd or sshd2 in hosts.allow, you could get this kind of problem.

normally, i would check my iptables rules and make sure port 22 is allowed, hosts.allow and hosts.deny are another files that i would look into and see if anythings wrong there. the entry there should match your ssh, i mean sshd for ssh and sshd2 for ssh2, like that.
