SSH back to virtual machine

I have a large image (.img) file from NTFS clone on my debian partition (40GB). I have a virtual vmware machine that uses a separate hard drive (running vmware from debian though)

I booted into the vmware machine with knoppix and connected to my debian machine through SSH (the directory where the big image is)

Now I would like to grab that file and put it on the virtual machine hard drive and extract the ntfs img there. So how can I SSH something from the machine im using to the virtual machine?

If I'm understanding the question, you can use scp. e.g.,

scp img-file vm-ip-here:~

That'll copy the image file (over ssh) to your user's home directory on the vm.
