Question Squid: how to preload cached objects & can restrict size of logs?

Hi folks,

Q1) I am running squid on linux box (RH9). I am mostly interested in HTTP caching. I was wondering if there is any way one can preload the cache before actually using it on another machine?

Q2) Is there a way to restrict the size of the logs created by squid? I know you can disable it from the squid.conf but I don't see an option for restricting the size. Also, is there any optimum size for the number of DNS entries squid can cache? Where are these entries saved?

Q3) To make squid do transparent HTTP caching, how do I modify my iptables? Or what is the procedure in making it transparent? Currently, in the browser settings, I have configured the HTTP proxy to the default port 3128. But I want this to be transparent.

Thank you very much..... any reply will be much appreciated.
I'm a total newbie at this.

cheers

Dravya
