Splash Screen for linux startup
 
Hi is it possible and how to get a splash screen to come up during startup, any help apreciated.

Which slash screen are you talking about? On GRUB, when the system is booting via init, at the login manager, or a splash once you've logged in and the window manager is loading?

For Debian, you have to recompile your kernel:

I've read many other modern distros have bootsplash enabled in the kernel by default, but I don't know for sure. This guide looks a bit more generic.
