splash screen during boot?

Greetings!

After i ve made my selection in the boot menu, id like to have a nice image (eg. a beatiful maiden:) ) behind all the verbose booting messages (perhaps with no messages at all?).

There is a description in the sdb of suse, but how is this done on a redhat machine? If its to be done within the bootloader, i work with
lilo. But since the description of suse modifies the initial ramdisk (at least i think it does, because you have to call mkinitrd), i doubt that its the bootloader...

Thankful for any help,
Subotai
