Spinlock Recursion

Attempting an install of FC6 gives me the error message "Spinlock recursion" followed by a host of error messages. It appears just after hitting 'enter' to begin installation, before reaching any input screens. Linux rescue does not work either. Kernel options noprobe, acpi=off, nosmp all do not help. I've confirmed the install dvd is working. Google and LQ search hasn't turned up anything helpful. Does anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like a kernel bug to me. Have you checked the MD5 of your iso and tried reburning at a slower speed? Have you tested your hardware (particularly the memory) to make sure it is all OK? Failing that being the issue, are you using the latest respin of the Fedora core install media? I seem to vaguely remember a respin being released to fix some bugs in installing on certain hardware. Maybe this is your problem?

Yes, I created an iso of the source disc and sha1sum'ed it to check. I have also used it successfully on other computers. I downloaded it via bittorrent a week ago, torrent file obtained from the fedora site. Would that be the respin version or the original?
