Hi, i compiled the kernel to upgrade from 2.4.22 to 2.4.23 and now my sound card doesn't work i have a built in sound card is an AC'97 i tried coping the config file from the original kernel to the new one and compiled it with that new settings but it didn't work anyway any ideas?
I just did the same thing and had the same problem. Finally figured it out. Went to www.slackware.com
Went to the packages section.
in Slackware current, searched for Alsa. Came up with four packages.
as root, did:
upgradepkg packagename.tgz
for all 4.
Run:
alsaconf (as root) it will go through some steps...(Should detect your sound card.) Reboot and you're all good!
Here's a link to the 4 alsa packages.
It sisn't really work it found the driver and installed it but when i restarted the computer then it made a fuzzy sound and afterwords it gave a message soun server fail cpu overload i'm lost again
Well, you know, I'm not really sure. But I can tell you what I did and it worked so here goes.
I installed
alsa-lib
alsa-utils
alsa-oss
alsa-driver
In that order.
