Sound on a 390E IBM Thinkpad

I am using a 390E IBM Thinkpad with Mandrake 8.0
Ok here is my problem. I have had no luck trying to get the soundcard to work it is a ES1969 Solo-1.

I am still a newbie that is willing to use the command line or a gui. I mostly use KDE for a gui.

OK I tried that stuff and all I get is buzzing when a sound should be played.

Anymore Ideas?

At this point I would email the author of the page and ask him.

I don't mean to sound like I'm begging out of this, but Allin (the guy who wrote the page) is the subject matter expert on this. I'm more like the librarian, I simply send you to the (hopefully) correct section.

If you still have trouble, let me know, I'll look some more.

Just an up date I got a chance to work on this problem more and the info I got on this site http://www.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/tp390e/sound.html is all I needed thank you again for your help!
