Sound issues in Yoper

Hello,

Was not really sure where to post a sound issue, hope here is allright.

I cannot get my sound to stay working in Yoper.

In the past, when I installed Yoper, there would be no sound.
But it turned out that the sound was working but the mixer defaults to mute after the installation.
So I would unmute the mixer and check "Restore volumes on login" and everything would be fine.
I have installed Yoper several times and that is all I had to do.
I am not sure why it is different this time, same hardware.

I can get sound working by running alsaconf, which detects the following card:

Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio

But when I reboot, the sound is gone again and I have to run alsaconf again.

Here is a snapshot of mt /etc/modprobe.conf file:

alias eth0 b44
alias usb-controller uhci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd

# --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
# --- ALSACONF verion 1.0.6 ---
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---

I have tried reading the sound howto, not sure I understand it entirely, and googled it a bit, but not sure what to do to get the sound to stay.

If I have left out any relevant details or if there are some more files I should provide snapshots of, please let me know and I will provide them.

Soundless in Seatlle

Thanks

PJ

After you run /usr/sbin/alsaconf ( to configure the card )
run the commadn: /usr/sbin/alsamixer ( to set the volumes )
run the command: /usr/sbin/alsactl store ( to save the settings )

Thanks Homey.

Worked like a charm on my laptop, but not my home PC, not sure why.

The alsamixer is not in the /usr/sbin directory, but I just adjusted volume using another mixer.

On my laptop which was having the same issues, it worked.
Both are intel cards, one slightly different then the other.

Thanks

PJ
