Sound Help ac97
 

Hello Group. Brand New Linux Guy Here!
I checked this entire board and still my sound does not work. I tried to go to the mixer and check to make sure the sound is up, but the mixer tells me I have no permission, and device not found.
I've gone to ALSA and downloaded the approapriate drivers.alsa-driver-0.9.0rc5

I've ./config'd
I've make install
I've .snddevices..
I've tried it all, and still my sound does not work.....

I've sndconfig and the sound is found, but then I get errors when MODPROB,, I get errors, "failed, etc..etc.

My setup:
Albatron kx400 with onboard ac97 sound.
AMD xp2000
Redhat 8.0.


Please please help a newbie!! :)

First, what is your distribution?
Second, please post here the exact modprobe error msg.

You probably don't load the right module (read "drivers" for your sound card)

He's running RH 8 :)

And also could you post a link to the page which describes in detail how to set things up for you card (the one that told you about ./snddevices and such).
