Sound Devices errors

I am having a problem with my sound Device.

I can play MP3 that I have rip via grip using ogg123. But I am unable to play the MP3 with Xmms, Zinf, mp3blaster.

The error message I get with mp3blaster is

Sound devices control error.

the error message I get with zinf is

corrupted files.

The files are not corrupted because they work with ogg123.

I am using Redhat 7.3 I am not sure how I can get the chipset of the sound card.

Thanks

Chamkila

Hi, which version of mp3blaster do you have installed? If it's not the static, and you have plenty of HD space, I would install that. It may be that the ogg libraries were not available during compile time, so it doesn't recognize that file format. With the static version, it comes with Ogg libraries et all.

Ogg rules, and good luck ;)
