Question Sound crackle with RealPlayer and alsa-oss

Hi all,

I'm running Fedora Core 3, and to solve the 'device not available' issues when trying to play something with realplayer, I installed alsa-oss so that the sound would feed through the ALSA mixer. While XMMS works fine without issues (though obviously I feed sound from this directly to ALSA), RealPlayer plays with a continuous stream of pops and clicks.

I've googled to no avail as far a solution goes- any ideas?

Cheers,

Jon

If XMMS plays without any trouble, the problem is in mplayer itself. I've never had to get into Mplayer to tweak that, my only sugguestion is to uninstall and re-install mplayer now that you have alsa-oss installed.
