sound card is hard to config here...


Ive posted some threads but got no response, just deletion....
i hve a cmedia 8738 sound card and everywhere i go for drivers, they dont work.... it says something abut MAKE:159 no makelie or somnething... and i dont have /usr/src/linux as it says to do in the README... HELP! i need like an equivalent driver, if this isnt possible, AC97 woul;d work since i got onboard sound too... disabvled though... HELP!!! DONT DELETE PLEASEEE!!!

just to mention on your problem though, the /usr/src/linux is where your kernel resides..
when you get the make command not found, are you root or a regular user ??

I dont think thats where my kernel resides then... im just gonna redopwnmload everything i need, format and sdo a clean instal... i login as my self but i go to terminal then su and pass and then i try... thats what i always do to instyall somthing....

Did you try sndconfig as root?
Because I had the same problem with mandrake, it didn't recognise my sound card ( at least harddrake!) but sndconfig, no prob!
