sound blaster Live

I have both an on board VIA sound card and a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card. They are both installed on the kernel, but sound will only come out of the on-board card. How can I switch this around without disabling the on-board card. I know it can be done. I am running Red Hat 8. I have also tryed sndconfig, but to no avail.

any help is appreciated.

You will want to comment out the lines in your /etc/modules.conf file referring to your onboard card. If you have questions on how to do that, then post the contents of that file here.

just a thought, why would you not disable the on board sound if you have a sb live ?
