Something strange

I have dual-boot SuSe 9.1 and XP (Pro, SP-2) machine.
I leave my SuSe 9.1 pro dvd (32-bit) in it quite a bit. Generally, I used to have uneventful windows boot-ups. After a recent windows update, if I have the disk (and only this disc) in, windows freezes on boot as it tries to start the gui. Thsi results in something even scarier than a blue-screen, a black blank screen.
I can't help but think, as this happened the boot after I installed the updates that MS must have done something. Seriously, I think that something that appeared to break windows (as you might still ahve the disc in after you install and first boot of windows would look like something really bad occured) would scare newbies off linux for quitre some time. Maybe I need to readjust my tin-foil hat, but I just think this can't be a mere accedent.
As novell redesigned the SuSE site in the least userfriednly way possibile, does anyone have a conact email for SuSE? I don't want to register with them, I just want to figure out exactly what's up!

I can't completely follow you here..

As I understand it, you have a dual boot setup, SuSE Linux and Windows XP.
You installed some updates for Windows, and now Windows doesn't work anymore.

The part I don't yet understand is, what does this SuSE DVD have to do whit this all..?

Boot with Suse 9.1 inside.
Installation ->Repair installed
