Socket Connection Failed: 111 Connection Refused

I have installed a lexmark z13 printer using the foomatic kit from this
website, and I have managed to print one page when the computer starts up and
at times if I kill a few sh, cupsomatic, z13 and 1 lexmarkwrapper process as
well as kill cupsd and restart it, although this isn't full proof. After the
first page is printed it won't print anymore pages, even if it is a two page
document or a second one page is printed. The only error message that I can
find is in the /var/log/messages file and it seems to correspond with the
printer stopping printing. I get the message above:
Socket connection failed: 111 Connection refused.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know as I am quickly running out, and so
is a guy in here Andre who has been diligently trying to help me.

thanks

I didnt think I could reply to a 5-year-old post but since I am getting the same error 111 connection refused,(and this thread was the top search result at google) it is not a bad idea to go ahead and post something here may be someone with the solution shows up?

In any case I think what happens is that the network people put this machine's (NIC's) MAC address in a black list so you get IP address from DHCP and everything but you just cant get on the internet, may be port 80 is blocked?

I am not so sure what is being blocked may be some other ports?

Anyone has any suggestions?
Appreciate it.

I think you'd be better off starting a new thread, with exact details of what you are trying to do.
Port 111 is rpcbind, usually used by NFS. cups runs on port 631.
Are you having a printer problem? If so, what make/model?

Thank you for the reply and the info.
I have not setup my printer yet, I forgot about it til' you mentioned it. lol but any way

I knew some ppl must have done something to my machine's IP so I changed the MAC address of my NIC (eth0) and got a new IP from DHCP and bingo the Internet started to work again!

Somehow they can put your NIC in a blacklist and although you still get an IP address but you cannot get out of the local domain (LAN)!
I think they lookup your mac address that is why I changed mine.
But if anyone else wants to do this I suggest taking the command line route because the GUI network manager does not work!!(or if it works it does not take immediate effect).never use both at the same time.... not a good idea cuz it messes things up.
