Well doesn't the mandrake iso have a boot.img. Try using a version of some other distro's iso (redhat) that has rawrite and tell it to use the mandrake 9 boot.img. You could also (if you are really desperate) take a small version of linux that fits on a floppy, install that and when you get a command prompt mount your CD rom and start the install.
