So now I'm a guru!

OK, I know it's something you get automatically if you hang around here long enough. They call you a guru and hope that satisfies you and shuts you up. But I like it all the same. Delayed Christmas present.

rokytnji 01-06-2021 06:21 AM

Congrats Hazel. Some of your posts have taught me new things.

rtmistler 01-06-2021 06:34 AM

Congrats!

Assuming you know it's based on post count, user titles per post count? Reminding that you can opt for some variety of selections by editing your profile Custom User Title.

hazel 01-06-2021 06:34 AM

Well, Harry, you taught me a lot too, back in the Linux Forum days. I always regarded you as an authority, especially on AntiX.

@rtmistler. Yes, all the forums do it the same way. Though I believe on this forum only technical posts count towards the total.

When I started on Linux Forums, I was on dialup so I couldn't hang around all day looking for posts to answer. It took me years before I had accumulated enough posts that they stopped calling me a newbie.

You've been a guru for a long time before LQ recognised you as such.

What brianL said.

colorpurple21859 01-06-2021 08:36 PM

congrats,
I crossed that line recently also. I don't consider myself a guru, don't like the addict with it's connotations, or belonging to a club, so went with veteran

hazel 01-07-2021 04:50 AM

I rather fancy myself as a guru actually, so I think I'll keep it that way.

syg00 01-07-2021 04:59 AM

Hmmm - does that mean all us non-guru types can quietly exit LQ and leave you to handle things then ? .... :p

hazel 01-07-2021 05:06 AM

No, that wouldn't work at all. Who would solve all my problems if you went away?

brianL 01-07-2021 05:09 AM

I chose LQ 5K Club because:
LQ Guru: Might mislead people into believing I actually know stuff.
LQ Addict: Well, it's easier to give up LQ than to give up smoking.
LQ Veteran: I've had minor scuffles here, but no major battles.

scasey 01-07-2021 11:22 AM

Congratulations Hazel!
Given that posts in the General forum don’t count, Guru fits you,

greencedar 03-10-2021 07:54 PM

Congratulations Hazel! My hat is off to you. :hattip:

I totally agree with what I quoted above that brianL said, spot on brianL!

Apparently it'll be around 2025 sometime (based on my current posting rate here) before my title changes (or I can change it), so assuming I'm still around by the time I make 5000 posts here... I'd very likely choose "LQ Veteran" since I doubt I've taught much to anyone here, and what brianL said about what I've quoted above from them as well. I'm also not interested in being in any "club" either.

But whatever :shrugs:
