So I just rebooted into Linux....

Hi Everyone,

This is something of a reflective post... no real question. Just some thoughts on Linux.

I was a UNIX systems admin for years. Over time I started using Windows, and as my job responsibilities changed I became a Windows user. Recently a friend introduced me to slack and suggested that I try it. So I tore my computer apart, partitioned a few drives, and a few weeks ago built a tri-boot machine with XP, Vista, and Slackware.

To put it mildly, Linux is my preferred operating system.

To put it a little more boldy: Linux rocks. It's stable, fast, cheap, friendly, and reliable. I am driven to analogy. (I'm going to get poetic on you now!) I feel like a bird that's been let out of a cage, I've just moved out of my parents' house into my own apartment, and as free as an actor in a SUV advertisement.

In sum, whenever I use any other OS, I can't wait to get back into the Linux environment.

That's all that I have to say.

Every silver lining has a cloud - once you have tasted the Linux nectar, working with other OSes can become a painful experience...
