So I got my box running smoothly...

After trial and error, much frustration. loads of hair pulling fun, compiling problems solved, working the ./configure, make, make install, now it is running smoothly no problems........

except i got nothing to do anymore now that I have fixed the problems.......

WTF is up with that? LOL!!!!!!!!!

looks like i'll have to reinstall again... rofl

i've come to the conclusion that unless you are a programmer, server admin for some network there isn't much to do in linux except get yourself into trouble with the feds.

Tsk tsk! You haven't tried to get games, applications, multiple monitors, dual-booting, file sharing across multiple platforms, ftp-serving, proper permissions for multiple users, or the greatest challenge: Teaching the closest computer-inept relative, to use Linux, now have you?

As for nothing to do, surely there is more to do on that front than Windows. Install, configure, crash, reinstall, reconfigure, recrash, wash, rinse, repeat. :_)

My system runs Unreal Tournament 2003 and Quake servers for me, runs my Gimp app + plugins, and lets me while away my work hours doing tech support for people on online forums.

What is there not to do in Linux? (grin)

More importantly.... Good ;) If your system is running just as you like, and you can do everything you want on it, then good. Now you don't have to waste a bunch of time fixing things. Use your computer for whatever it is you have one for, and that's it. Now you have more time for all the other things in life like... Oh wait I'm a computer geek too :D

Cool
