smp kernel: uncompressing Linux ..ok booting the kernel
 

Hello,

The installattion of RHEL 3 U3 (with kernel 2.4.21-20) on IBM xSeries dual-processor went smoothly, but RHEL smp kernel won't boot and gets stuck on uncompressing Linux ... ok booting the kernel

It will boot just fine when selecting the non-smp kernel.

I tried upgrading to the latest kernel but it's too much pain to do it on many servers manually espesially without rpm kernel.

Any help will be appreciated.

RHEL 4 runs fine but we have to use RHEL 3
