Smoothwall Q's

Hi! I am considering using Smoothwall (ISO download ed.) b/c it looks like a solid networking/firewall solution. But before I do, I have a few questions:

1. Does SW support or come with Apache, PHP, and MySQL?
2. How configureable/easy to use is it?
3. Is there any differences between SW and other Linuxes?

*Note there were many more q's than this, but I can't remember them!

Thanks,
Joe of 4Life

Hi,

smoothwall is very small but fully functional. Yes apache is inside with openssl mod_ssl ...

After installation you can connect to port 8443 and you get into and cgi based gui ...

It's very easy to use ... very very easy ...

The difference is that this system is completly build for security-being ... so you won't find a great variety of software tools ... no locate ... it's minimized.

Kernel 2.2.19( ipchains) if I can remember rightly ...
Snort is on board ...

So if you don't have much time and you want a good firewall disto then grep it ... otherwise configuring by yourself is a very g00d idea ...
