slow loanding applications


hi all, i have just loaded a p2 with redhat 9. When i click on an application it takes a long time for the program to start. the hard drrive seems to be running overtime until the application opens. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help

What application or all applications? Have you removed any unecessary services running that your not using, say httpd (apache) and so on?

What's your full specs? Shouldn't be too slow, how slow we talking about, 10 seconds, 30 seconds or longer?
