Sloooow Transfers between filesystems while Recovering data--
It began here:
Now, I mounted the ext2 drive in my new reiserfs system, and I can see the filse I want. However, it takes about 15+ minutes to transfer a file, and eventually, it will hang, and stop.
I am currently rebooting, and as the system goes down, I see:
Code:
...
Turning off swap.
hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt
Saving Random Seed to /etc/random_seed
hdc lost interrupt
...
etc.
Now, since it is ext2, I need to check the disk for errors, but how do I do that from a different mountpoint?
Also, why is it taking so long to transfer files.... did it try to mount the ext2 drive as a reiserfs filesystem?
Help please!

I merged your threads, let's try to keep the same ongoing issues all in one place instead of having to link members to your previous threads. If it's a totally irrelevant issue, by all means start a new thread, if not, then keep it all in the same thread.
But it sounds like your drive is dying going from your previous thread and now what is occuring now. I've seen similiar issues with drives after they've failed. Sometimes I could save some data, other times it's lost. That's why I always keep good backups of the more important data not only on my own network but send it off weekly to a few remote shell accounts and such I have available.

Thanks for the merge its weird.... i can access great for about 5 minutes....then it dies down and eventually hangs altogether....goinng to leave it copying the System folder overnight, see how it goes.
Ahh...well. I got the important stuff.....100+ hours of adminning settings, so everything else is icing.
