slack download?
Evening guys! I know this may seem like a silly question, and i should try to work it all out.
I am making the awesome change to slackware! and want to download the latest version. I know on the slackware site there is something called slackware current and the appropriate ftp tree link: ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...kware-current/ now i want to have an iso image to boot from (ie i will create a bootable cdrom) I could download slackware 8.1 a ready made iso image : ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...kware-8.1-iso/ I suppose my question is: in the slackware current tree what do i download? ( i know there is heaps of stuff i wont be needing for instance i want to run kde so i can forget about gnome) or should i rather download 8.1 and then update all the things i need? lastly would anyone guess how far away slack 9 is? cheers |
With slak you never know. In that it's like Debian: release when ready.

If you want a slackware-current iso you'll have to make it yourself, there are instructions in the /isolinux directory.
