I Installed the static version of skype, and now when I phone, I can hear the other person perfectly, but the other person can only hear each second word of me. In windows, i don't have this problem. Could the reason be that I use the static version of skype and not the dynamic version, or what could be the reason?
I use oss and redhat9
the reason can not be my connection, because in WinXP it works perfectly
Is that WinXP on the same machine?
What distro are you using?
What kind of microphone are you using? Are you sure the microphone jack is OK?
Also with Skype, you pretty much need a headseat with microphone, otherwise the
other end will hear their own voice echoed back to them.
winxp is on the same machine.
I use Redhat9.
I use a head set and there is no echo but there are holes in my voice when I speak.
the microqhone jack should be ok, because with the "sound recorder" I can record my voice without problems.
Distribution: Debian Sid, FreeBSD, Mandrake, Red Hat

I don't know what to say. I know it works for me in Ubuntu 5.04 and did also in Mandrake 10.1.
Your kernel is a bit old. I have been using 2.6.8 (Mandrake) and 2.6.10 (Ubuntu)
Perhaps you could try adding a newer kernel and seeing how that works. I would recommend 2.6.10.
Don't remove the old one in case it doesn't work. Red Hat should have some method of easily installing
multiple kernels.
