Size of /tmp

Hi.

This may depend upon the usage, but approximately how much disk space should /tmp be given when it gets its own partition?

I gave my /tmp 10GB (out of a 400GB HDD). After one week of running Fedora Core 6, the directory has about 150MB used (i.e. 2%). Apparently I gave it way more than necessary...

I am not going to re-partition the disk now, but I'd like to know the good numbers for my future reference.

Thanks!
Dai

There's no clean-cut one-size-fits-all answer to this. If
you were running an Oracle database server you'd probably
find that a couple of G maybe just right. If all that ever
makes it into /tmp is the session stuff for kde/gnome 500M
would have been plenty.

Cheers,
Tink
