Simple Linux Question

Right now I have GNOME as my desktop. I don't want to use that anymore. How do I switch to KDE?

change your ~/.xinitrc to the windows manager you want to use, all mine contains is
and it loads kde fine.

I know theres other ways of doing it, i just never remember what they are, and this seems to be the simplest

I'm running Red Hat Linux 7.2.

I found the file /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

I opened it, but I don't think it's what I am looking for.

Talking easy to switch

Want the simplest way...??

Go to the menu on the panel.. Under either utilities or system (I'm on a friggin windows box now, so I can't double check) you'll find a program called Desktop Switching Tool. Run that and tell it to use KDE... next time you start it'll start KDE instead of gnome.

Also, in Redhat the file you would edit is in your home directory and it is .Xclients YOu would replace the line gnome-?????
with startkde

good luck
