Question Simple GUI creator for predefined tasks

Hello all,

I'm looking to create a simple GUI mini-control panel type application that a user can run to perform some pre-defined tasks. These tasks may have some logic like if this is running then change label to shutdown app and cleanup etc and run a cleanup routine vs. a startup routine.

What applications, frameworks or languages are out there and what would you recommend? (I am a C programmer mostly). I'm not looking for something super powerful such as GTK programming as this will probably not have much scope creep in the longrun.

Might depend on the GUI or window manager you have already. I assume you mean that you want a user to run some command or set of commands from a KDE menu for example. There are more than a few menu makers out there. I forget the one I used last on KDE to make a few autoexpect scripts to run from a window type menu. There were many to chose from. It was much more simple than going into any code for such a small project. I think I searched for KDE menu or something on that line.

You could get into something like Netbeans or such for complex java app on a web page and so on. Some good coders can whip up a C and C+ app in a snap. Some of the folks here may be able to assist in the programming section of you detail the project. Some are pretty good, might even send it to you.
