Shutting down and non shutting down x windows

Hello every body.
I wanted to know is there any way to shutting down X windows locally for better performance and have X windows remotely on that machine.
for example with VNC or RDP or ssh -X option .

Thanks a lot for any help.

I don't think so because the remote X session or application relies on a local X server for its display.
