Hi, everyone. I want to move my /home to its own partition, so I need to shrink both my Linux partition and my windows partition to make room. Right now, I have 42 gigs of free space on my Windows partition, defragged it, but Windows wouldn't let me shrink the partition. Does anyone know a way to do this directly from Linux?
Given that the question needed to be asked I would caution against accepting the suggestion of @allend.
ntfsresize is easy (and safe) to use; the subsequent resizing of the partition itself significantly less so.
The precautionary warning point is well made. Gparted is the easy and convenient option. I merely intended to point out that there is an alternative path using the tools underlying Gparted that does not require any additional software.
I used Gparted and it worked great. However, now I need to create the partition to use for my /home. I tried using Gparted, but it says I can't have more than 4 primary partitions. The one I have now are: 2 in Windows(System and TI105847W0F), and 2 in Linux (which don't have any names, but one of them says /boot). Is there any way I can have the fifth partition?
