Shell messaging?

Hi
other day something strange happened to me.
I left a workstation locked under my user name, of course it could be accessed
via another tty, but when I came back and logged in I had a msg in my shell

-bash-2.05b$ FUCK YOU

as if someone had typed using my keyboard.
is there anyway to send a msg like that?
which doesn't give the sender.

Thanks

To avoid such niceties in future you could disable writes to the terminal via:

mesg -n

Of course this would disable "ALL" messages to your terminal including "talk" requests etc.

HTH.
