Question setting up mail

Hi, I just have some questions on setting up mail in linux. I have been using linux for a while now but have never really set up mail as I have been using a hotmail account. Basically I want to fetch my mail from a pop3 account and send mail as well, using mutt as my MUA. What software do I need to do this (do I really need sendmail or any other MTA for this purpose. I thought I read somewhere that sendmail wasnt needed and more for setting up a mail server)? Also can anyone recommend a good tutorial for this. Thankyou.

You are correct, you do not need sendmail if you just want a mail client. If you would like to us mutt, you might want to take a good look at the instructions at....
