Setting date day names

Hey I was messing around with the Date function, and I found out my linux system time was not correct. so I typed:

date -s "12/07/2004 02:42:08"

Since that was the time at that moment, it resolved the time incorrectnes but brought along a new problem, see at this time the current day was Sunday which it had correctly displayed along with the correct date before, now it still displayed the 7th of december as supposed to, but the day name had changed to Tuesday, so my question is, how to correct the day name without giving a false date ?

it's not 2004 yet. Retry it with 2003 as the year :D
