Setting Boot times?

I was wondering if there is any way to make my box turn on at a certain time? I want to power down my box and then be able to set the time it switchs on. Does anyone know how to do this. I know that it is far easier to switch of a box remotely than turn it on remotely.

No, I don't think that is possible. There would be no way for it to turn itself back on locally.

The only thing I could think of is a "Wake-On-Lan" setup, but you would need to have another machine running with a cron job set to wake the other machine through the network...

But having one machine running 24/7 just to turn on another machine seems a bit, well, crazy.

Some boards will have a BIOS that allows to power
on at a given time, not a big deal since ATX (the machine
is always powered on [kind-of{unless you turn it off at
the wall or with the switch at the back}])

I completely forgot about that.

If your board supports it, that will certainly work, though you can't set that up remotely (you mentioned starting in remotely in your post).

Some boards will allow a wake-up on other PCI
activities, or on a serial connection ... if you had
a dedictated phone-line and an external modem ... :)
