Set autologin with default user on Red Hat Enterprise 3
hi,
I am trying to setup autologon (for GUI) with default username/password without having to enter them manually when booting up RedHat Enterprise AS 3.0. I tried enabling GNOME -> System Settings -> Login Screen -> Login a user automatically on first bootup and was unsuccessful.
Is there a tool (like TweakUI for XP) that can help do the same? Or manually change settings/files?
Thanks,
Deepa.

Thanks! that was helpful. I was able to get a non-root user to authenticate. However, root user cannot autologin and has to authenticate.
Using su or sudo su, requires manual password entry. Would there be a way to script this to remove manual intervention. Yes, i am in the process of automating a few tasks and hence the need.

Posted this msg on Linux General and figured it was not the right place and re-posted at RedHat specific forum. My bad.

I guess it is GDM. I believe so from System Settings -> More System Settings -> Destop Switching tool -> GNOME. Other options available are KDE and TWM. Any other way of figuring the Display/Login Manager?
