serial console with timeout "respawn to fast"

Hi all.

I'm trying to enable the serial connection on a firewall and also show some stats in login page via /etc/issue file

I'm refreshing the login (also the issue file) page by adding a timeout (5 seconds) on inittab (respawn).
i.e.
Code:
c0:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -8 -t 5 9600 ttyS0 linux
but a short time before I start the system I get the "INIT: Id "c0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes" message

I think is 4 the timeout, but not sure.

Please tell me if I'm wrong.... and how to disable the respawn detection (or change the thresholds)

Thanks in advance.

Try removing the "-t 5" option since that will cause agetty to exit every 5 seconds (not even long enough for someone at the other end to type in their user name).

Sorry but this not help at all.

I need this timeout (at least 10 seconds) to refresh the issue file. 5 or 10s are enough to login.-

Just wanna know how to disable the protection....

One thing that comes to mind is download the source for the "init" program and hack it. I don't understand why you want to refresh the issue file so often.

It's a critical machine, very important and I need to show some important stats to technicals, some times when I gone, I need to know (by phone) how is the machine in place!!!
I know 5 seconds is to short, but 10 or 15 are just right, but I get the same problem.-

thanks.

PS: This tech-workers are not prepared to know linux, so I can't make an account to give them access.
