Angry Sendmail loosing e-mails

I have an unusual problem with sendmail; it apears to loose e-mails to certain recipients. the smtp daemon accepts the e-mails from Windows PC's running outlook express. the mail is then queued for sendmail to deliver to the ISP. The mail log shows progress the e-mails with a stat=sent at the end. I can only assume that the ISP has received my e-mail. But the recipient does not receive it.
