Sendmail and gethostbyaddr

Using Sendmail I get the following message during boot.

Quote:
Mar 20 17:13:40 localhost sm-mta[4026]: gethostbyaddr(192.168.0.2) failed: 1
Mar 20 17:13:40 localhost sm-mta[4026]: gethostbyaddr(192.168.1.1) failed: 1
Mar 20 17:13:40 localhost sm-mta[4027]: starting daemon (8.13.3): SMTP+queueing@00:25:00
Mar 20 17:13:40 localhost sm-msp-queue[4030]: starting daemon (8.13.3): queueing@00:25:00
What are the common reasons for 'gethostbyaddr' to fail.

What does your hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf look like?

This message basically means that the system isn't able to reolve the IPs you listed from the local hosts file, DNS, NIS, whatever you're using for host HOST<-> IP mappings.
