Sending system mail to other account

I don't know if this is possible but what I want to do is remove the system name out of the mail address.

EI: root@goodridgenotes12.goodridge.net

I need it to go to root@goodridge.net or someother address.

Backgound: I am running Lotus Nots 6.5 on CentsOS 4. In my dead mail box where mail is delivered when the system is not sure where they go I get all my system messages because they are going to root@gridgenotes12.goodridge.net and there is not a record in the domino directory. I'm not even sure how Notes is getting these messages.

Can someone explain how I could change this?
