section '.bss' type changed to PROGBITS

What does the warning 'section XXX type changed to PROGBITS' mean, and how do I avoid it? I'm compiling some code to run on a sub-processor, and I'm getting this warning during the linking stage.

Wild guess - in one of the file you have global variable without initialization and in another with?

Could you provide exact warning?

I only get one warning:

section .bss type changed to PROGBITS

But I do have the following linker script, and I included *(*) inside of .bss, which is likely what is causing the problem. I just don't understand what the problem is exactly...

SECTIONS
{
. = 0x0000 ;
.text :
{ *(.text) }
.data :
{ *(.data) }
.bss :
{ *(.bss) *(COMMON) *(*) }
}
